DOC Douro red wines are classified according to Porto and Douro Wine Institute (IVDP) in three categories: Colheita (Harvest), Reserva and Grande Reserva.
Grande Reserva is a single harvest wine, with minimal stage of 12 months, alcoholic grade ≥12%, exhibiting intense and complex aromas, with good color depth. While young, these wines have great structure and persistent tannins. When aged, they show delicate aromas of great complexity, soft in the mouth, and keeping its balance. These are wines with aging potential of several years, and may take almost a decade to reach its peak.
